The Basajaun is a legendary giant that taught the Basque people about agriculture. This mythical creature is the inspiration of our company because it embodies not only our heritage but also our passion for cooking with sustainable ingredients and sharing it with others.

Basajaun Catering was born in 2017 the side gig and "brainchild" of Chef Josh Pejsa. Over the past two years, our side gig has been blossoming into a multi-faceted company. Early 2023 we secured a dream facility in the heart of Boise enabling us to expand our customer base and capabilities. We are beyond grateful for all the support and excited to keep expanding.

Flavorful, local and high-quality food served with love is the foundation of Basajaun Catering. We strive to make each and every dish a wholesome expression of our passion for food, life, and living.  Whether catering your event, a private dinner, meal prep, cooking lessons or anything in between we strive to make your experience legendary. Hi! I'm Chef Josh Pejsa-

Husband, Father, Brother, Chef.

I'm a Basque Idaho native, born in Sun Valley.  I have been cooking all my life. I started cooking professionally at the age of 16. Over the years I have thrived as a Food Service professional, in fine dining environments, gastro pubs, and catering/banquet service, accruing over 20 years of kitchen experience.    I'm passionate about serving food and serving people.

Previously to this I have managed multiple restaurants.  As such I was responsible for developing long term successful models and culture for many companies. I accomplished this by creating and maintaining consistently delicious food, prioritizing customer experience, instilling a culture of gratitude in my staff and building community relationships.

 I enjoyed the opportunity, responsibility and privilege of being part of so many great institutions, but I needed an opportunity to advance my professional career by striking out on my own. It was always my dream to bring my unique take on food and share it with others. Basajaun catering is just that, my love for food served up for everyone to enjoy.
